Moses Usor and LASK capture Austria’s OFB Cup after extra-time

Moses Usor continued his excellent 2025-26 campaign with top Austrian club LASK on Friday by helping the Linz-based club capture the OFB Cup with a 4-2 victory over fellow Austrian Bundesliga club Altach after extra-time.

The Nigerian forward boosted his tally to fourteen goals in all competitions with a 10th minute equalizer after his club conceded in the opening five minutes. Usor smashed a left-footed finish into the roof of the net after getting on the end of Sascha Horvath’s cross.

But it was not an easy match for the favorites, who conceded again on the half hour mark to go down 1-2 by halftime. Powerful American striker Samuel Adeniran restored parity again for Die Schwarz-Weißen after the hour mark, which eventually left the teams level after an entertaining ninety minutes.

LASK’s superior quality in the final third carried them to victory in extra-time. Another American, left back George Bello, put the Austrian Bundesliga title contenders ahead for good in the 101st minute. Shortly after, Adeniran struck again before a red card issued to Altach effectively ended any hope of a comeback.

LASK look to shock Austrian football with league and cup double

In the league, an excellent start to the championship group has left the newly-crowned cup champions very much in contention to claim a first top flight title since the 1964-65 season. They are currently level on points at the top of the six-team group with defending champions Sturm Graz, with only three points separating first from fourth place.

Three matches remain, with two fixtures at home to provide plenty of hope that the club from Upper Austria can shock title favorites Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg. Since losing their opening championship group match at Rapid Wien, who they will host on Monday, they have gone unbeaten in their last five league matches with three wins and two draws.

Usor, who joined his current club from Slavia Prague during the 2022-23 season, is now fourth on the league scoring charts and has four goals from six championship group matches.
