Ghana Premier League: Medeama host GoldStars in high-stakes title battle

The Ghana Premier League returns to action this Sunday as clubs prepare to battle it out across several intriguing fixtures.

The definitive headliner of the weekend is the clash between league leaders Medeama SC and the reigning champions, GoldStars, at the Tarkwa TnA Park. Medeama currently sit atop the table with 53 points, while GoldStars remain hot on their heels, trailing by just two points heading into these crucial Week 31 fixtures.

Ibrahim Tanko, the head coach of Medeama SC, shared his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated encounter:

“We have to concentrate on the next game, which is very tough against a direct opponent whom we are only two points ahead of. Definitely, this is going to be a very different game altogether, but I believe we are fully prepared for it,” Tanko stated.

A victory for Medeama would see them extend their lead at the summit of the log as they pursue their second Ghana Premier League title.

Kotoko Visit Dreams FC in Ghana Premier League

In another standout fixture, Asante Kotoko will travel to the Tuba AstroTurf in Kasoa as guests of Dreams FC on Sunday. Stop-gap coach Hamza Obeng, who recently replaced Prince Owusu, discussed the significant assignment ahead:

“It’s a big platform, and I must execute my duties with the boys while showcasing my own coaching talents as well. People are happy and saying positive things, while others have different views. Now, we all need to come together. I am working closely with my technical team; we are planning together because if we want to win, we must do it as a collective unit,” the coach told AKSC Media.

Asante Kotoko currently occupy the sixth spot with 46 points, with their title aspirations having virtually fizzled into thin air.

Hearts of Oak Face Nations FC Test in Ghana Premier League

Record FA Cup holders Hearts of Oak are on the road to face Nations FC at the Dr. Kyei Stadium this Sunday. The Phobians, who sit third in the standings with 46 points, will need to deliver an improved performance to keep their top-four dreams alive, especially with Samartex and Aduana FC breathing down their necks.

Hearts of Oak head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, shared some insights ahead of their trip to Kumasi:

“I believe it is always important to think about how to respond positively. In association football, outcomes sometimes do not go the way you desire. When that happens, you must maintain belief in your process, get back on track, and focus on responding. We are ready to respond positively,” he told Hearts TV.

The remaining Ghana Premier League matches will be played across various venues at 3:00 PM GMT, with top-flight survival and relegation battles equally on the cards.
