Kenya: Kunihira extends golden boot lead in Police Bullets’ nine-goal rout

A ruthless display from Kenya Police Bullets FC headlined Saturday’s Kenya Women’s Premier League action, as the table leaders demolished Vihiga Queens FC 9-0 to tighten their grip on the title race.

At the heart of the dominant performance was Ugandan forward Margret Kunihira, who delivered a sensational outing with two goals and four assists.

Her influence was evident throughout the contest, driving Police Bullets forward and dismantling Vihiga’s defence with ease.

Fellow Ugandan Zainah Namuleme also made her mark by finding the net, continuing her fine season form and pushing her tally to five goals alongside seven assists.

The scoring spree didn’t stop there. Emily Kemunto bagged a brace, while Faith Mboya, Lorna Nyarinda, Terry Engesha, and Rebecca Okwaro all added their names to the scoresheet to complete the emphatic victory.

Kunihira’s latest heroics see her extend her lead at the top of the scoring charts with 15 goals, now three clear of her closest challenger, Elizabeth Mideva.

She has also contributed nine assists, underlining her all-around attacking brilliance this season.

The result lifts Bullets to 46 points, keeping them ahead of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets FC by two points.

Crucially, Police Bullets still have two matches left to play, compared to Ulinzi’s single remaining fixture.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Starlets FC kept pace with a commanding 5-0 win over Gideon Starlets FC, while Kibera Soccer Women FC edged Bungoma Queens FC 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Kayole Starlet FC secured a 2-1 victory against Trinity Starlet FC, and Soccer Assassins FC narrowly beat Zetech Sparks FC 1-0.

With the finish line in sight, Kenya Police Bullets now need just one more victory to seal the championship and successfully defend their league crown.
