The dominance of Mamelodi Sundowns’ Miguel Cardoso and the resurgence of Orlando Pirates’ Oswin Appollis have been officially recognised, as the PSL confirmed the Betway Premiership individual award winners for April.
In a month that shifted the momentum of the title race, Cardoso achieved a rare feat by clinching his third consecutive Coach of the Month accolade, while Appollis scooped a double for the Sea Robbers.

Since taking the reins at Chloorkop, Miguel Cardoso has made the dugout his own. The tactical mastermind steered Masandawana through a gruelling five-match schedule in April without tasting defeat.
With three wins and two draws, Cardoso’s consistency allowed Sundowns to reclaim the summit of the log, currently sitting on 64 points. He edged out Orlando Pirates’ Abdeslam Ouaddou and the Kaizer Chiefs duo of Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef to secure a remarkable “hat-trick” of monthly honours.
While Cardoso ruled the touchline, Oswin Appollis was the undisputed king of the pitch. The Bafana Bafana winger has been named Player of the Month after a scintillating run that has kept Pirates’ mathematical title hopes alive.
Appollis’ April output was nothing short of elite, racking up four goals and an assist in just four outings. His clinical edge wasn’t just about the numbers, but the timing; his performances provided the spark necessary to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
To cement his dominance, the Bucs star also walked away with the Goal of the Month award. His strike against AmaZulu FC on April 18th—characterised by elite spatial awareness and a composed finish—is already being touted as a “Goal of the Season” contender.

The recognition comes at a fever pitch in the Betway Premiership. Sundowns currently hold a five-point cushion over Pirates (59 points) as the season enters its final stretch.
The battle for supremacy continues this week with high-stakes midweek fixtures: the Buccaneers travel to Stellenbosch FC, while the Brazilians host a resurgent Kaizer Chiefs side in a massive Tshwane-Soweto crossover.
