Black Stars goalkeeper coach visits Hearts of Oak

Ghana national team goalkeeper trainer Daniel Gasper paid a visit to Premier League giants Hearts of Oak on Tuesday at their Kpobiman Complex.

The visit formed part of his assessment of home based players as well as Black Stars number one shot stopper, Benjamin Asare, who plies his trade with the Phobians.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup a little over a month away in Mexico, Canada and USA, Gasper’s visit comes with a desire to observe Asare first hand after the shot stopper featured regularly during the four-time African champions’ successful qualification campaign.

The 70-year-old, who has been the trusted goalkeeper coach of new Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz, expressed happiness over the work rate of Hearts of Oak’s entire setup.

β€œIt’s a pleasure and an honour to be here, really impressed,” he said during an interaction with the team.

β€œTo be a teacher you have to be passionate and there is no question about it that your coach is very passionate in terms of his ability to teach you, to give you discipline and to give you structure.

β€œSecondly my specialty is goalkeeping and I want to congratulate coach for his session, the progression, the willingness and the capacity, the capabilities of the goalkeepers. I love the attitude, good attitude good things happen, bad attitude not so good things.”

Hearts of Oak will host Karela United for the delayed week 30 fixture on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3:00pm GMT.

Gasper urged the players to claim all three points and repeat the dose in Week 32 at home against two-time Premier League champions Aduana FC.

β€œI wish you luck on Wednesday, get the three points and then Sunday do it again, get the three points.”
