NPFL mandates simultaneous kick-offs for final two matchdays

The leadership of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced that all fixtures for the final two rounds of the 2025/26 season will feature simultaneous kick-offs across the country.

In a formal directive issued to all participating clubs, the Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, explicitly stated that Matchday 37 and Matchday 38 fixtures must commence at exactly the same time. This strategic move is intended to uphold the principles of sporting fairness and to safeguard the overall integrity of the final league results.

”It has become absolutely imperative to remind all member clubs that the remaining encounters of Matchday 37 and 38 have been strategically scheduled to be played simultaneously on the same date, with a uniform kick-off time of 4:00 PM,” the directive read.

“This decisive action is being taken to ensure comprehensive sporting fairness and to protect the professional integrity of our matches and the subsequent results as the season reaches its climax.”

The official memorandum further clarified that clubs are strictly advised against seeking any alterations to the scheduled dates or times, regardless of any logistical challenges they may face concerning the availability of their accredited home grounds.

”Should any club encounter specific issues regarding the unavailability of their regular home venue, such a club is mandated to select and communicate an alternative NPFL-accredited venue before the close of business on May 7, 2026,” the memo continued.

“In the event that any club fails to provide an alternative location within the stipulated timeframe, the NPFL administration reserves the right to unilaterally choose a suitable venue for the fixture.”
