RB Salzburg: Aboubacar Camara scores stunning goal for FC Liefering before receiving award

Ever since emerging as a young talent to watch with the Burkina Faso U-17 national team at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-17 World Cup that same year, Aboubacar Camara has been sharpening his skills with RB Salzburg’s reserve team FC Liefering in Austria’s second tier 2. Liga.

On Friday, the Burkinabe attacker stole the show with involvements in every goal during Liefering’s 3-0 victory over Admira Wacker. including a stunning goal from midfield to go along with two assists.

In the 22nd minute, Camara opened the scoring with bold attempt after receiving a pass from Nikolas Freund in the middle of the pitch. The unexpected and perfectly struck shot caught Admira goalkeeper Clemens Steinbauer completely off guard to put the hosts ahead at Red Bull Arena.

The stunning strike made a massive difference in an even match, and late on Camara helped Liefering finish off the victory. In the final fifteen minutes, the former Rahimo FC star assisted two goals to confirm three points and move his club into 6th place on the league table.

First team promotion incoming for RB Salzburg youngster?

An excellent day was only made better for the 19-year-old. Camara was named the 2. Liga’s Newcomer of the Year and presented with the award following the match.

Camara joined RB Salzburg midway through the 2024-25 campaign from Rahimo, immediately after his 18th birthday and almost two years after his excellent performances with the Burkina Faso U-17 national team.

The rising star is adapting quickly to European club football and is in the system of a club that is renowned for its ability to develop African talent. Notable progress in his second season could very well mean that Camara will earn a promotion to the RB Salzburg first team next season, which will put him in a much larger spotlight.

He will finish up the 2025-26 club season next Thursday when Liefering travel to face Austria Klagenfurt in their final league fixture.
