Allan Freese has challenged his Magesi FC players to “show some fight” or face the trapdoor, warning his squad that he cannot save the club from relegation by himself.
In a remarkably candid pre-match blast, the veteran mentor laid the blame—and the responsibility—squarely at the feet of his players as they prepare for a daunting Saturday night clash against title-chasers Orlando Pirates. With only three games left to save their Betway Premiership status, Freese has abandoned tactical nuance in favour of a raw emotional plea.
FOR THE BADGE. All in this together.💙🐊

The Limpopo-based outfit currently sits rock bottom of the table, staring down the barrel of a return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Following a demoralising midweek defeat to fellow strugglers Orbit College, the math is simple for the side known as Dikwena Tsa Meetse: find a spine, or find yourself relegated.
Speaking ahead of the kick-off at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, a defiant Freese made it clear that the time for “taking chances” has long since passed.
“It has become a do-or-die situation,” Freese told the media in a blunt assessment of Magesi’s plight. “Sometimes, certain things are left to the players; they must also fight. I can’t fight all alone.”
The veteran coach’s “call to arms” comes at the worst possible time, with the Buccaneers arriving in Polokwane with their own championship ambitions fueling the fire.
“There are three games left. Can we take chances with these three games? No. In every game, we must fight now.”
Despite the bleak outlook, the trapdoor isn’t shut just yet. Magesi (21 points) remain within a single win of leapfrogging Marumo Gallants and Orbit College. However, with a nightmare run-in that includes a trip to Siwelele and a final-day shootout against Richards Bay, the odds are heavily stacked against them.
For Freese, the message is clear: tactics go out the window when survival is on the line. Whether his players have the stomach for the fight against a rampant Pirates side remains to be seen. If they don’t, the veteran’s “do-or-die” warning may well turn into a post-mortem.
