Pirates loanee ruled out for Magesi’s clash with Chiefs

Magesi FC’s uphill battle for Betway Premiership survival has hit a major speed bump, with influential defender Siyabonga Ndlozi ruled out of Wednesday night’s high-stakes encounter against Kaizer Chiefs.

The Limpopo outfit welcomes a resurgent Amakhosi to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, desperately needing a win to breathe life into their safety hopes. However, they must navigate this challenge without Ndlozi, who is currently on loan from Orlando Pirates.

The 23-year-old right-back, who has become a mainstay in the starting XI since arriving from Pirates in January, picked up his fourth yellow card of the campaign during Saturday’s league fixture against Sekhukhune United.

The automatic one-match ban comes at the worst possible time for veteran coach Allan Freese. Since taking over from John Maduka in July 2025, Freese has been tasked with stabilising a side that has struggled for consistency in their sophomore top-flight season.

To make matters worse, Ndlozi isn’t the only absentee. Midfielder Kgothatso Mariba will also watch from the stands as he serves a suspension for an identical accumulation of bookings.

The timing of the suspensions is particularly cruel given the form of their opponents. Kaizer Chiefs arrive in Limpopo on a rampant four-match winning streak, having recently dispatched the likes of Durban City FC, TS Galaxy, and Orbit College FC.

Amakhosi’s recent surge has seen them climb to third on the log with 42 points, while Magesi remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

With only 21 points left to play for, Dikwena Tsa Meetse cannot afford many more slip-ups. Losing a “Pirates-schooled” defender like Ndlozi for a game of this magnitude leaves a massive void in a backline that will be tested by a Chiefs attack firing on all cylinders.
