Ugandan players abroad enjoyed another productive weekend across different leagues, with Allan Okello stealing the spotlight in Tanzania after scoring twice for Young Africans, while youngster James Bogere celebrated league glory in Denmark as Aarhus secured the Danish Premier League title.
Several other Ugandan stars also made headlines with goals, assists and strong performances for their respective clubs in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
In Tanzania, Allan Okello delivered a brilliant display, playing the entire match and scoring a brace as Young Africans comfortably defeated Coastal Union 3-0.
Fellow Ugandan Khalid Aucho remained on the bench during Singida United’s commanding 4-0 victory over Mtibwa Sugar, while Peter Lwasa completed 90 minutes in Pamba’s goalless draw against Dodoma Jiji.
Denmark also provided good news for Ugandan football after James Bogere and his Aarhus side sealed the Danish Premier League title following a 2-0 win over Brondby, although the Ugandan forward was an unused substitute. As a result, Bogere is set to play UEFA Champions League football next season.
In the women’s league, Phionah Nabbumba featured as Midtjylland Women defeated Osterbro Women, while Vanessa Karungi stayed on the bench as Nordsjaelland Women thrashed KoldingQ Women 5-1.
Elsewhere in Europe, Jordan Obita starred in Scotland with a goal and an assist during Hibernian’s 3-1 triumph over Falkirk after playing the full match. Elvis Bwomono was unused as Aberdeen defeated Dundee United 2-0.
In Germany, Herbert Bockhorn played 65 minutes as Magdeburg overcame Holstein Kiel 3-1, while in Romania, Elio Capradossi completed the entire game as U Cluj edged FC Rapid Bucuresti 1-0.
Ugandan defender Timothy Awany featured for 90 minutes in Israel despite Ashdod suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Hapoel Haifa.
In the Czech Republic, Aziz Kayondo also played full-time as Liberec fell 2-0 to Plzen.
In Finland, Nambi Viola found the back of the net after an impressive full-match performance as Aland United Women thumped PK-35 Vantaa Women.
In India, Ugandan duo Resty Nanziri and Fazila Ikwaput were both on target as East Bengal Women hammered Sesa FA Women 6-0.
Tunisia’s Travis Mutyaba also impressed after registering an assist in CS Sfaxien’s 3-0 victory over AS Marsa, while Joseph Mpande played the entire match in Vietnam as PVF-CAND defeated Gia Lia 2-1.
In Rwanda, Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka featured for APR FC during their 2-1 win over AS Kigali.
North Macedonia saw Fahad Bayo make a substitute appearance for Arsimi in their 1-1 draw against Bashkimi, while Mahad Kayondo helped Dumlupinar defeat Gonyeli 4-0 in Cyprus.
In South Africa, veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango remained on the bench as Mamelodi Sundowns won a thrilling encounter 7-4 against Siwelele.
Across the United States and Canada, several Ugandans were involved in their clubs. Edward Kizza featured for 45 minutes as Indy Eleven defeated Sporting Jax 2-1, Bobosi Byaruhanga played 55 minutes in Oakland Roots’ 2-1 victory over El Paso, while Allan Oyirwoth completed the full match as New England Revolution II edged New York City II 3-2.
Sadat Anaku remained on the bench during Hartford Athletic’s 2-1 victory over Detroit, while Isak Ssewankambo made a brief appearance for Vancouver FC in their 2-0 win over Langley United.
In Kenya, William Wadri scored for Bandari FC in a 2-2 draw against KCB, while Margaret Kunihira netted the winner as Kenya Police Bullets defeated Trinity Starlets 1-0, with Zaniah Namuleme also featuring.
Denis Iguma helped Tusker FC beat Bidco United 2-0, while Shafik Batambuze played 77 minutes for Kakamega Homeboys in their 1-0 defeat to Muranga.
Samuel Ssenyonjo and James Ssetuba came off the bench as AFC Leopards defeated Mara Sugar 2-1.
Edward Masembe featured for APS Bomet in victory over Mathare United, while Mustafa Kizza and Titus Ssematimba started for Nairobi United in their 2-0 loss to Kariobangi Sharks alongside substitute Charles Waibi.
