Pressure is beginning to intensify at Vipers SC with only two matches left in the Uganda Premier League season, following a difficult spell that has raised fresh questions around head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert.
The Venoms, who looked firmly in control of the title race weeks ago, have recently struggled to maintain momentum.
A string of frustrating performances across competitions has seen the club win just twice in their previous ten outings, with several draws slowing down their charge.
According to Swift Sports, frustration within the club reportedly increased after Vipers were eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Kitara FC on away goals at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The disappointment was followed by another setback in the league after a goalless draw away to Police FC trimmed their lead at the top of the table to only three points.
The report further indicates that uncertainty now surrounds Minnaert’s involvement in preparations for the final two fixtures of the campaign.
It is understood that team manager Steven Mulindwa has this time communicated the weekly training schedule to players, unlike previous weeks, where the responsibility had reportedly remained with the Belgian tactician.
Meanwhile, the Venoms have already entered residential camp as they gear up for season-defining clashes against Maroons FC and Express FC.
Despite the growing pressure, Vipers remain favourites to lift the Uganda Premier League title. The Kitende-based side needs only one victory from the remaining two matches to officially secure their eighth league crown.
They currently sit at the summit of the standings with 61 points as the title race heads into a dramatic conclusion.
