The battle for the 2025/26
Uganda Premier League (UPL) crown takes center stage on Tuesday as both Vipers SC and Kitara FC look to bounce back from disappointing results and keep their championship ambitions alive.
League leaders Vipers SC travel to Kiira Road Arena in Kamwokya to face Police FC, hoping to return to winning ways after last weekโs frustrating draw against URA FC. Despite the slip-up, the reigning champions remain firmly in control of the title race with 60 points and could stretch their lead over second-placed KCCA to eight points ahead of Wednesdayโs fixtures.
Head coach Jacky Ivan Minnaert will demand an improved display from the Venoms, who cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture at St Maryโs Stadium, Kitende earlier in the season.
However, Police FC will also head into the encounter determined to recover from their shock defeat to Calvary in the previous round. Matia Luleโs side currently sits seventh on 44 points and victory would strengthen their push for a top-six finish.
Later in the evening at Hamz Stadium, Kitara FC will attempt to reignite their title hopes when they face an in-form Express FC side. The Royals suffered a damaging 0-1 defeat to NEC in their last outing, missing the chance to gain ground in the title chase.
Now six points behind the leaders on 54 points, Wasswa Bbosaโs men know another setback could deal a major blow to their pursuit of the championship. Bbosa will also come up against his former employers in what promises to be an emotional contest.
Express FC, meanwhile, arrive with growing confidence following a strong run of form. The Red Eagles are currently 10th with 33 points, just two behind the top eight, and another positive result could further boost their climb up the table.
Before the late kickoff, URA FC will host Calvary FC at Hamz Stadium with the Tax Collectors eager to build on their encouraging performance against Vipers last week.
Although URA have now gone eight league matches without victory, the point earned at Kitende offered signs of improvement. Calvary, on the other hand, come into the clash motivated after upsetting Police FC and remain desperate for points as they continue battling to avoid relegation.
At Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, Maroons FC will entertain Entebbe UPPC aiming to recover from their heavy 3-0 defeat to KCCA FC. Entebbe UPPC head into the game in better spirits after defeating UPDF FC 2-0 in their previous match.
Elsewhere, BUL FC will host Lugazi FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. BUL are targeting a strong finish inside the top eight, while Lugazi continue their fight for survival in the division.
