The Venoms wrapped up their eighth league crown with a composed display away from home, taking advantage of KCCA FCโs goalless draw against URA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
With one match left to play, Vipers moved to 64 points from 29 outings, a tally KCCA can no longer surpass after the Kasasiro Boys stayed on 59 points. The champions have enjoyed an outstanding campaign, remaining unbeaten on the field throughout the season, registering 18 victories and 10 draws. Their only setback came through forfeiture after missing their opening fixture against Kitara FC.
Vipers wasted no time asserting themselves against Maroons as Yunus Sentamu struck inside the opening minute to hand the visitors an early advantage. Usama Arafat doubled the lead deep into first-half stoppage time before Karim Watambala added the third midway through the second half to complete a memorable evening for the newly crowned champions.
Sentamuโs influential performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade after inspiring a clinical display.
Meanwhile, KCCA were frustrated by URA in a tightly contested goalless encounter at Nakivubo, a result that officially confirmed Vipers as champions before the final match day.
Elsewhere around the league, Police FC and Entebbe UPPC shared spoils in a 1-1 draw. Ambrose Kigozi gave Entebbe UPPC an early lead in the fifth minute before Umaru Kasumba rescued a point for Police late in the game.
Mbarara City boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 triumph over Buhimba United Saints. Clinton Kamugisha opened the scoring in the 34th minute before Ronald Edwok wrapped up the victory after the break.
UPDF also secured their top-flight status following a goalless draw against Calvary, a result that confirmed Calvaryโs relegation from the division. Express FC and Lugazi FC equally settled for a barren stalemate.
On another busy evening in the league, BUL FC and Kitara FC played out a 1-1 draw in their encounter.
