Second tier NBC Championship side Police were absolutely no match for a Young Africans side that contained no shortage of foreign star power. Angola national team striker Depú scored a hat-trick after Mudathir Yahya opened the scoring in the first minute of play.
Supporters at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam witnessed a dismantling that began quickly and early. With observers still taking their seats at the venue, Yanga quickly won the ball in midfield during Polisi’s first touches and Tanzania national team midfielder Yahya had plenty of room to move to the edge of the penalty area before rolling his shot past the goalkeeper.

After twenty minutes of mercy shown to the second division club, Depú scored the first of his three goals in the 22nd minute when Yahya’s clever pass allowed the Angolan to smash his finish home. He doubled his tally a little over ten minutes later and the score was 4-0 by halftime.
The hat-trick was complete before an hour gone for the prolific forward and the hosts added a couple more goals. A Frank Assinki own goal was the only recourse for Polisi who were outgunned and outclassed throughout.
In the final match of the day, Azam FC were also in action against a second division club but had much more of a challenge in a 1-0 victory over Mbeya Kwanza. Iddi Nado provided the only goal for Florent Ibengé’s side when he arrived to fire in from a low cross in the 10th minute.

Simba SC advanced to the Round of 16 on Saturday with a victory over NBC Championship club B19 FC while there was little to no surprise as the results played out over the weekend.
After Tanzania failed to have a club advance to the knockout stages of the CAF interclub competitions, all attention is now on domestic competition. Observers will next turn their attention towards a Dar es Salaam derby next Sunday when Yanga, who currently enjoy a strong lead in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, will face Azam FC at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
