Ghana FA Cup: Aduana coach Cioaba Aristica targets semifinal spot

Ghana Premier League side Aduana will turn attention to the MTN FA Cup as they seek to return to Africa next season.

The “Fire Boys” are up against second tier side Techiman Liberty in the quarterfinal clash at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Techiman on Saturday at 3:00pm.

The two time Ghana Premier League champions reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup after beating Asante Kotoko 4-2 via penalty shootouts in the round of 16 at the baba stadium in February.

Aduana eliminated Kotoko to reach quarterfinals

Speaking in a pre-match interview, head coach of Aduana FC, Cioaba Aristica indicated that his players are brimming with confidence after securing a 2-0 victory in their last Ghana Premier League encounter against Eleven Wonders.

“I believe that after winning our home game 2-0, the players now have more confidence. That has been the only problem in the team. This week in the training, I see the players with more confidence, and they are working hard.

“If this continues, I believe we will do well in the future. It is important we concentrate on this game to avoid any mistakes and play to win,” Aristica told Aduana FC TV.

Aduana FC currently share 41 points with Hearts of Oak in third on the Premier League table, five points behind leaders Medeama from 25 league games.

Ghana Premier League side Aduana will shift their focus to the MTN FA Cup as they look to strengthen their chances of returning to African club competitions next season.

The Fire Boys will face second-tier side Techiman Liberty Youth in the quarterfinal clash scheduled to take place at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Techiman on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

The match represents an important opportunity for the Ghanaian club to continue their pursuit of silverware this season while also boosting their chances of qualifying for continental football.

The two-time Ghana Premier League champions booked their place in the quarterfinals after a dramatic victory over Asante Kotoko in the Round of 16. The match ended level after regulation time before the Fire Boys held their nerve to secure a 4-2 victory on penalties at the Baba Yara Stadium in February.

That victory against Kotoko was considered one of the standout results in the FA Cup this season and gave the team renewed belief in their ability to compete for the trophy.

Ahead of the quarterfinal encounter, head coach Cioaba Aristica has expressed confidence in his squad following their recent performances in the Ghana Premier League.

The Romanian tactician believes the players are gaining confidence after securing a 2-0 victory in their most recent league match against Eleven Wonders.

According to Aristica, the improvement in confidence among the players has been noticeable during training sessions throughout the week.

“I believe that after winning our home game 2-0, the players now have more confidence. That has been the only problem in the team. This week in training, I see the players with more confidence and they are working hard,” Aristica said in a pre-match interview with the club’s media team.

The coach further emphasized the importance of staying focused against their upcoming opponents despite the difference in divisions between the two sides.

“If this continues, I believe we will do well in the future. It is important we concentrate on this game to avoid any mistakes and play to win,” he added.

Although Techiman Liberty Youth compete in the second tier, the FA Cup has often produced surprising results, and the Fire Boys will be aware of the potential threat posed by lower-division teams looking to make history in the competition.

For the Ghana Premier League side, progressing to the semifinals would represent a major step toward lifting the FA Cup trophy and securing a route back to continental football.

The club has previously enjoyed success both domestically and internationally and will be hoping to return to the African stage in the near future.

In the current Ghana Premier League standings, the Fire Boys are enjoying a competitive campaign. The team currently sits third on the table with 41 points, level with Hearts of Oak after 25 matches played.

However, they remain five points behind league leaders Medeama, meaning the title race remains tightly contested as the season approaches its final stages.

Balancing league ambitions with a strong FA Cup run will be a key challenge for the coaching staff and players in the coming weeks.

If the team can maintain their recent momentum and overcome Techiman Liberty Youth in the quarterfinal clash, they will move one step closer to achieving their goal of returning to African club competitions.

For now, all attention is on Saturday’s fixture in Techiman, where the Fire Boys will be aiming to deliver another strong performance and keep their FA Cup hopes alive.
