The Algerian Ligue Nationale du Football Amateur (LNFP) has sanctioned two Ligue 2 clubs over a match-fixing scandal that has rocked the nation. The LNFP officially announced that JSM Tiaret and El Khmeis were penalized following their April 27 Matchday 28 fixture. Tiaret lost 5-2 at home to relegation battlers El Khmeis, raising eyebrows among many Algerian Ligue 2 spectators.
Tiaret had already secured their status for next season in the Ligue 2 Center West division, while El Khmeis were on the brink of relegation. The game ended in favor of El Khmeis, who scored an astounding five goals, prompting concerns from other Ligue 2 clubs. Tiaret also received a three-point deduction.
According to Gazzetta du Fennec, the LNFP disciplinary committee reviewed footage of the match and deemed it highly suspicious. Consequently, the committee nullified the result and declared both clubs as having lost the round. Additionally, the presidents and captains of both clubs were fined 50,000 Algerian Dinars (approximately 377.52 USD) and handed two-year suspensions.

The LNFP stated that the match outcome violated the Fair Play rule of football and undermined the spirit of the sport. The decision has now placed both El Khmeis and Tiaret in a fierce relegation battle with two games remaining.
