Ibou Sane: Knee sprain ends Amiens striker’s season

Senegalese youngster, Ibou Sane’s season in the French Ligue 2 with Amiens has ended after picking up an injury during a league match.

The young striker’s season came to a premature end after spraining his knee during Amiens’ 3-2 defeat to Rodez last Friday at the Stade Paul Lignon.

Injured during the match, where he was substituted in the 29th minute, the 21-year-old will not play again this Ligue 2 season, abruptly halting his progress with Amiens.

Sane arrived on loan from FC Metz last February, without an option to buy, after extending his contract with the Lorraine club.

This loan was intended to allow him to gain playing time and continue his development.

Before his departure, the former Génération Foot player had made 18 appearances in all competitions for Metz, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

In Amiens, he played under the Senegalese coach Omar Daf, with whom he played 6 matches since his arrival.

For this season, he has played nine league matches, with two goals and no assist.

The 21-year-old won the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, making two appearances and scoring one goal in the competition.

He is expected to return to full fitness by the end of May, according to projections by Amiens medical staff.
