Rwandan giants APR FC have officially been crowned the 2025/26 Rwanda Premier League domestic champions, securing the country’s only qualification slot for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after another dominant campaign.
Although Sudanese guest side Al-Hilal S.C. finished at the top of the overall combined standings, Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) regulations state that only local clubs are eligible to win the domestic title. As a result, APR walked away with their record extending seventh consecutive league crown.
The army-backed club sealed the championship with matches to spare after building an unassailable lead over traditional rivals Rayon Sports F.C., underlining their continued dominance in Rwandan football.

APR FC’s title-winning run was highlighted by several impressive performances during the closing stages of the season. One of the biggest moments came when they defeated Sudanese powerhouse Al-Hilal 2-1 away from home in a crucial encounter that further strengthened their grip on the domestic standings.
The newly crowned champions then celebrated in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Rutsiro F.C. in front of their home supporters, capping off another successful season in emphatic fashion.
Meanwhile, Rayon Sports kept hold of second place among local clubs after a 1-1 draw vs Gorilla FC in an important league fixture. Elsewhere, Al-Hilal continued their strong form with a 1-1 draw against Police F.C. to cement their place at the summit of the overall standings that include the Sudanese guest teams.
The participation of Sudanese clubs Al-Hilal and Al Merrikh SC in the Rwandan league has added a unique dimension to the competition over the past seasons due to the ongoing situation in Sudan. FERWAFA has already confirmed that both clubs are expected to return for the 2026/27 campaign.
As the current season nears its conclusion, league organisers have also announced the calendar for the upcoming season, which will now be played under the newly sponsored BK Pro League banner.
According to FERWAFA and the Rwanda Premier League Board, the 2026/27 season is scheduled to kick off on September 4, 2026, before concluding on May 30, 2027.
With the domestic title secured and another CAF Champions League campaign awaiting, APR F.C. will now turn its focus toward strengthening its squad as they aim to make a strong impact on the continental stage next season.
