Achraf Hakimi will not be available for Paris Saint-Germain F.C.’s decisive UEFA Champions League second-leg clash against FC Bayern Munich after medical examinations confirmed a muscle injury.
According to a report from RMC Sport, the Moroccan international suffered an injury to the hamstring of his right thigh during the closing stages of PSG’s dramatic 5-4 first-leg victory over Bayern.
Hakimi was forced off after experiencing pain following a collision with Bayern midfielder Konrad Laimer.
Further medical tests conducted on Wednesday revealed that the injury is more serious than initial muscle tightness or cramping, confirming a muscular issue that will keep the Moroccan right back sidelined for the highly anticipated showdown next Wednesday.
The absence of Hakimi represents a major setback for PSG, as the right-back has been one of the team’s main players this season.
Paris Saint-Germain coach, Luis Enrique, now needs to find alternative solutions on the right flank as they prepare for one of their biggest matches of the season without one of their star defenders.
