Stellenbosch FC have promoted two youth players to the senior team following a series of impressive performances.
The Western Cape-based team has confirmed the promotion of under-20 international Faiz Abrahams and Vuyolwethu Andrieas. Both players graduated from the club’s Diski programme and have signed professional contracts.
Central midfielder Andrieas has since told the Betway Premiership team’s media that he was ready for the challenge of playing at the professional level.
“I have always said that I’m willing to give everything for the badge, and I can’t wait to do that on this next chapter of my journey,” he said.
“I have been in the setup for a while, and that has given me a lot of strength. Training with the first-team players has motivated me to keep working hard to ensure I’m ready to take my opportunity with both hands when it comes.”
Fellow graduate Abrahams also says his target is to play regularly in the main team for the CAF Confederation Cup semifinalists.
He said: “My goal is to play more regularly in the first team next season, and I can’t wait for the new campaign to get underway.”
Steve Barker’s men are set for another go at the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the domestic league standings.
