Manchester United legend Jaap Stam has said that, Cameroon international Carlos Baleba will best fit the void that would be created by the future departure of the club’s rugged midfielder Casemiro.
The Brazilian is uncertain to stay with Manchester United at the end of the current season and the Red Devils have shown interest in the 22-year-old who has been a revelation for Brighton under German tactician Fabian Hurzeler.

The Douala born midfielder has also been linked to German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich due to his blistering form for the Seagulls.
Jaap Stam, who spent three seasons as a defender at Manchester United, sees Carlos Baleba as the ideal replacement for Casemiro.
“I really like Carlos Baleba from Brighton and I think he could replace Casemiro at Manchester United.
“Manchester United needs to look for a replacement who has good legs and the energy to run up and down the pitch. They also need to be very good with the ball. Baleba can do that.”
Carlos Baleba has chalked an impressive statistic this season, collecting 24 games for Brighton who sit 14th on the league table with 37 points from 29 league games in the English Premier League.
He played five matches for Cameroon at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations where they exited at the quarter final stage after losing 2-0 to hosts Morocco.
Baleba, who has 16 caps, started off at Brasserie in Cameroon before joining Lille where he rose to the senior side before signing for Brighton in a five-year-deal worth €27 million.
