The Dutch manager believes the player shouldn’t stay in Leeuwarden much longer after the season ends considering his output.
Currently second in the Eerste Divisie, Cambuur is well-positioned for promotion to the Eredivisie, a feat that could increase the market value of Baouf according to De Jong.
Baouf, who has represented Belgium at various youth levels up to the under-19 level, has been a true revelation of the league this season with his performances, even being named Player of the Year for the third time of the season.
He boasts impressive statistics for a defender, with six goals scored from 21 league appearances this campaign.
Under contract with Cambuur until 2028, Baouf is already attracting the attention of several major clubs including AFC Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and Bundesliga side Borissia Dortmund who are reportedly monitoring his progress.
Dutch analyst Hans Kraay Jr. also expects the player to leave this summer. De Jong even mentioned a potential transfer fee: “If we get promoted, it will take at least five million euros to even consider his transfer.”
Baouf was a key figure in Morocco U-20’s run up to winning Africa’s second World Cup after beating Argentina 2-0 in the finals in Chile.
Dutch second-tier side SC Cambuur are reportedly preparing to cash in on highly rated Moroccan youngster Ismael Baouf during the upcoming transfer window as interest in the defender continues to grow.
The 19-year-old centre-back has been one of the standout performers for Cambuur this season in the Eerste Divisie, attracting attention from several major clubs across Europe.
SC Cambuur head coach Henk de Jong has openly praised Ismael Baouf, describing him as one of the most promising young defenders in the Dutch second division.
Baouf’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, especially after his recent call-up to the preliminary selection of the Moroccan national team following strong displays at youth level.
The development of Ismael Baouf has been one of the most exciting stories of Cambuur’s season.
The young defender has quickly established himself as a key player for the club despite his age. His maturity, defensive awareness and ability to contribute offensively have made him one of the most valuable players in the squad.
According to coach Henk de Jong, Ismael Baouf may not remain at Cambuur for long if he continues to perform at this level.
The Dutch manager believes the defender’s quality and potential will soon attract bigger opportunities.
Currently sitting second in the Eerste Divisie, Cambuur are pushing for promotion to the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. Promotion would significantly increase the market value of several players, including Ismael Baouf.
Although Ismael Baouf currently represents Morocco at youth level, he previously featured for Belgium’s youth national teams up to the Under-19 category.
His international background reflects his diverse football development and the growing interest in his talents from different national team setups.
Baouf has been particularly impressive this season, delivering consistent performances in defence while also contributing goals.
For a central defender, his statistics are remarkable. Ismael Baouf has scored six goals in 21 league appearances, an impressive return that highlights his attacking threat during set pieces.
His ability to combine defensive solidity with goal-scoring contributions has made him one of the most exciting young defenders in the Dutch second division.
With such performances, it is no surprise that Ismael Baouf has attracted the attention of several top clubs across Europe.
Reports suggest that Dutch giants Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, and Feyenoord are all monitoring the Moroccan defender’s development closely.
Interest is not limited to the Netherlands, as German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has also been linked with the promising youngster.
Despite this growing interest, Ismael Baouf remains under contract with Cambuur until 2028, meaning any potential transfer would likely involve a significant fee.
Dutch football analyst Hans Kraay Jr. has also predicted that the young defender could leave Cambuur during the summer transfer window.
Coach Henk de Jong even hinted at the possible transfer value of the player.
“If we get promoted, it will take at least five million euros to even consider his transfer,” he said.
Another highlight in the career of Ismael Baouf came at international level when he played a key role in Morocco’s success at youth level.
The defender was an important figure in Morocco U-20’s triumph at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the team defeated Argentina 2-0 in the final in Chile.
Baouf’s performances during the tournament further enhanced his reputation as one of the most promising defenders of his generation.
With strong performances for both club and country, Ismael Baouf appears destined for a bright future in European football.
Whether Cambuur secure promotion or not, the Moroccan defender is expected to attract serious offers in the upcoming transfer window.
For now, the focus remains on finishing the season strongly with Cambuur, but the future of Ismael Baouf could soon take him to one of Europe’s top leagues.
