UEFA Women’s Europa Cup final: Chinzimu benched as BK Häcken draw first blood

Malawian attacker Faith Chinzimu was on the bench as her BK Häcken edged fellow Swedish opponents Hammarby 1-0 in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup final first leg on Saturday.

Chinzimu was not in the starting line-up at 3Arena, but this did not affect BK Häcken during the all-Swedish UEFA Women’s Europa Cup final.

The 19-year-old signed for the Swedish side last year from Ascent Soccer FC of Lilongwe.

Earlier this April, she became the first Malawian to reach the continental final after her Sweden-based club overcame Eintracht 3-1 on aggregate in the semifinal.

Europa Cup final delicately poised

The competition’s joint leading scorer Felicia Schröder found the target in the first half to give the hosts a slender advantage going into the second leg.

Swedish attacker Monica Jusuh Bah raced down the left channel before picking Schröder with a pass for her to score.

There is plenty to play for in the final second leg scheduled for Friday, 1 May at the Nordic Wellness Arena in Gothenburg. The match will kick off at 4pm Swedish time.
