Edouard Mendy extends Al Ahli stay

Senegal international Edouard Mendy has signed on to prolong his stay at Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli Jeddah until 2028. The veteran goalie signed a contract extension days before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where his nation is set to take part.

Mendy, 33, has been an integral part of Al Ahli since joining them in 2023 from English side Chelsea. He has been the undisputed number one of the Jeddah-based club for the past three seasons. Mendy, after signing his contract extension, said the ambition of the club made him commit to another two seasons.

“Very happy to continue the journey with Al Ahli for the next two seasons. This club, this project, and this ambition mean a lot to me. I am proud to be part of this family and to represent these colors. Thank you to the management, the staff, my teammates, and the fans for the trust and support from day one. The work continues!”

Mendy started 18 games in all competitions and kept six clean sheets. He has won the 2025 Saudi Super Cup and the 2024/25 AFC Champions League Elite with Al Ahli.

Mendy is expected to start as the first-choice goalie for Senegal during the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He won the tournament in 2021 and made one save during a penalty shootout win over Egypt.
