As a cornerstone for Servette, he was instrumental in the club’s high-level performances lately, both in domestic competition and across Europe.

Ondoua will specifically be remembered as a primary architect of the 2024 Swiss Cup triumph, famously converting the winning penalty in the final shootout.

A veteran of high-stakes matches, he also featured heavily in various European campaigns, providing vital experience and character during the club’s most crucial moments.

“Servette FC warmly thanks Gaël Ondoua for his commitment, professionalism, and dedication to the garnet colors over the years, and wishes him all the best for the future,” the club said on Tuesday via a statement.

Servette supporters paid tribute to him during the final home game at the Stade de Genève against Lausanne-Sport, where they won 2-0 with Ondoua featuring for seven minutes yesterday.

Throughout this current campaign, Ondoua has made ten league appearances without finding the back of the net.

Ondoua, who previously represented Hannover, Anzhi, and Vejle BK, has earned eight caps for the Indomitable Lions.
