Injury crisis hits Pyramids ahead of crucial Zamalek and Ahly clashes

Pyramids FC are facing a growing injury crisis just days before the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League, where they are set to face Zamalek SC and Al Ahly, in addition to the Egypt Cup final against ZED FC.

Playmaker Mostafa Fathi suffered a serious setback after dislocating his collarbone during a friendly match against Helwan. The player is scheduled to undergo surgery on Sunday, which will determine the length of his absence.

Winger Mahmoud Zalaka missed the same friendly due to a severe calf bruise sustained in recent training sessions. He is currently undergoing a rehabilitation and physiotherapy program.

Moroccan right-back Mohamed Chibi was also forced off during the Helwan friendly, leaving the pitch ten minutes before the end after experiencing knee pain. He is set to undergo scans to assess the injury.

Defender Mahmoud Marei remains sidelined as he continues recovery from a hamstring tear, which has already ruled him out of recent matches.

There was a slight positive, however, as Moroccan midfielder Walid El Karti made his first appearance in over a month, playing 10 minutes after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up against Haras El Hodoud on March 5.

Meanwhile, international left-back Mohamed Hamdy continues his long-term absence after undergoing ACL surgery, and is currently in the muscle-strengthening phase of his rehabilitation program.

With key players struggling for fitness, Pyramids face a tough test of squad depth at a decisive stage of the season.
