Cameroon international Junior Tchamadeu has extended his contract with Stoke City FC for two additional years, stating that he is “proud” to have put pen to paper on a new deal at the English Championship club.
The 22-year-old right-back penned a new deal that will keep him at the bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2028.
Having joined Stoke City from Colchester United three years ago, Tchamadeu has featured 87 times, missing just one of City’s first 21 Championship fixtures during the 2025/26 campaign.
The Potters’ Sporting Director, Jonathan Walters, gave rave reviews regarding Tchamadeu’s contribution.
“Junior showed, especially during the first half of last season, that he can have a significant impact on the team,” Sporting Director Jonathan Walters explained.
“His campaign was affected by an injury on international duty, and a brief setback prior to his return in the final two matches, so it’s crucial we work closely with him to ensure he is available for a more sustained period next year.
“We all want to see players with the attributes that Junior brings to the team. With his energy and pace, he has the potential to develop into one of the most dynamic attacking full-backs in the Championship and beyond.
“As a full international with Cameroon, and given the number of games he has played at just 22, we are looking forward to seeing him realise his ambitions with us at Stoke City.”
The contract extension comes as a boost for Tchamadeu, who sustained a knee injury while on international duty with the Indomitable Lions at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
He was further ruled out for five of City’s six fixtures in April following another injury picked up at Preston North End.
He played four games and scored one goal as the five-time African champions exited the 2025 AFCON at the quarter-final stage after losing 2-0 to the hosts, Morocco.
“I am proud to sign a new deal at Stoke City,” he explained. I feel like I have grown as a player since I joined the club, and it feels like the right step for me to extend my stay here. I enjoy my relationship with the fans and the environment at the club. I just want to enjoy my football, give 100% in every game and every training session, and I feel like this is the best place to do that.
“The supporters have been great with me since I first arrived. Last season wasn’t easy and we understand their frustrations, but I know they’ve shown me and the boys a lot of love, and it’s that love and faith that I want to repay.
“I have that opportunity now to show my gratitude and show everyone what I am capable of. I think I have done that a little bit, but I know I have a lot more to give.”
Born in England, Junior Tchamadeu has made eight appearances and scored one goal since being called up by Rigobert Song in 2023.
Junior Tchamadeu clocked 26 games, scoring one goal, as Stoke City finished 17th on 55 points from 46 games last term.
