Kenya U17 Women’s national team head coach Mildred Cheche has expressed her delight after being nominated for the coach of the Year (Women's Category) at the CAF Awards 2024.
Cheche led Kenya to its first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance and secured the nation’s historic first victory in the tournament. The shortlist came just a few days after she had graduated with a Bachelor of Science in International Business Management.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for being nominated for the CAF - Coach of the Year award in the women’s category. It is truly an honor and great achievement to be recognized together with the team for the great contribution of women’s football development in Kenya,” said Cheche.
“I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the formidable technical bench, junior starlets girls, the federation, ministry of sports, ministry of education, schools, grassroots clubs and all our Kenyan fans for the immense support and encouragement.
“Your invaluable support has encouraged me to continue striving for excellence. I am truly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be considered for this prestigious award. We give God all the Glory.”
