Veteran Knowledge Musona was on target for Scottland FC as they beat Highlanders FC 1-0 to clinch the 46th Independence Cup at Maphisa Stadium on Saturday.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star reacted the quickest to pounce on a loose ball in the box and unleash a left-footed finish into the net at the Matabeleland Province venue.

That proved to be the decisive goal of the match before the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions received the trophy. The game is played every year to commemorate Zimbabwe’s independence.
The goal is certainly going to give Knowledge Musona momentum going into league assignments.
Under the reign of Norman Mapeza, the experienced Warriors forward has been featured sparingly, often coming from the bench. His younger brother Walter Musona and Khama Billiat are the preferred attackers for the Castle Lager PSL holders.
For Highlanders, it is the first defeat of the season for coach Benjani Mwaruwari who is yet to register a win in eight consecutive matches across all competitions.
Since being named Highlanders FC coach in controversial circumstances, the Premier League legend has presided over seven straight draws in the Castle Lager PSL.
Recently, the former Manchester City striker complained that he was not getting enough support from Highlanders management.
