Koyalipou and Fuseini lead the charge in productive weekend for Africans abroad

African stars rose to the occasion once again this past weekend, with a host of clinical finishers finding the back of the net across Europe and the Middle East, with Goduine Koyalipou leading the charge.

Central African Republic forward Koyalipou spearheaded the action, netting his second goal of the campaign during Angers SCO’ 1-1 home stalemate against RC Strasbourg Alsace in the league on Sunday. The striker has now found the target twice in 12 Ligue 1 appearances this season as he continues to find his rhythm in the French top flight.

Elsewhere in France, a high-stakes encounter between Auxerre and Nice ended 2-1 in favour of the former. Moroccan international Sofiane Diop momentarily pulled Nice level with a well-taken equaliser, but it was Malian forward Lassine Sinayoko who stole the show by bagging the winning goal for Auxerre to secure all three points.

Meanwhile, in Ligue 2, African talent was on full display as Lorient cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over relegated Metz. Senegal international Bamba Dieng and Cameroon’s rising star Arthur Avom Ebong were both on the scoresheet, contributing a goal each to the comprehensive away win.

Eredivisie and Jupiler Pro League Excellence

Over in the Dutch Eredivisie, Algerian international Anis Hadj Moussa continued his impressive individual form. He notched his ninth goal in 29 appearances as Feyenoord fought their way to a 1-1 draw against AZ Alkmaar.

The Belgian Jupiler Pro League also witnessed significant African influence. Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Fuseini put the icing on the cake with a late strike in Union St-Gilloise’s comfortable 3-0 home triumph over KV Mechelen.

In a surprising turn of events, Algerian youngster Yassine Titraoui emerged as the hero for Sporting Charleroi. His decisive winning goal ensured Charleroi stunned Royal Antwerp with a narrow 1-0 victory on the road.

Middle Eastern Magic

The goal-scoring exploits extended to the Saudi Pro League, where North African quality was once again evident. Algerian international Houssem Aouar registered a vital goal to help Al Ittihad secure a 2-1 victory over Damac.

In another Saudi encounter, Senegalese forward Mamadou Sylla proved to be the difference-maker, netting the only goal of the match to hand Al Riyadh a crucial 1-0 win over Al Fateh.
