With the Tanzanian Premier League Board (TPLB) planning the Kariakoo derby for June 15, after the FIFA international break, Young Africans (Yanga SC) have released the list of their remaining Mainland Premier League matches minus the Simba SC game.

According to Yanga, they only have two matches remaining to conclude the league, and one Federation Cup final. The two league matches listed by Yanga include the away game against Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Stadium on June 18, and the home final game against Dodoma Jiji at Azam Complex Stadium on June 22.

Meanwhile, Yanga have also reached the final of the domestic competition, where they will face Singida Black Stars, who knocked out rivals Simba SC with a 3-1 semi-final win. The date and venue of the final are yet to be announced.

While Yanga are not recognising the Simba derby, the Msimbazi Reds have confirmed their next league fixture is against the Citizens on June 15 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Reports in Tanzania now indicate that Yanga will face a staggering fine of Sh600 million if they fail to honour the fixture. Furthermore, Yanga have confirmed their participation in a special international friendly against Rwandan side Rayon Sports on June 15, the same day the derby is supposed to be played.

The derby is of great importance for the two Tanzanian giants as it could decide the Premier League title. Yanga are currently sitting top of the 16-team league table with 73 points, one more than Simba, who are second.
