Reigning champions Les Aigles du Congo are the latest team to move into first place in a highly competitive playoff phase from DR Congo’s top flight Linafoot following their 2-1 victory over AS Maniema Union.
The two teams exchanged early goals, with Obed Mbala’s low effort sneaking past Aigles goalkeeper Nathan Ndibu at his near post. But a swift response left the teams level and gave the reigning champions the momentum after star attacker Kikwama Mujinga swiftly replied with an easy finish from a cross.
Tonny Talasi helped Les Aigles get off to a dream start following halftime after he turned in from Kikwama’s corner kick. The Kinshasa club held on for a valuable victory that left them in pole position when the full time whistle arrived.

The result leaves them one point clear of CS Don Bosco, who won on Tuesday to maintain their strong recent form. TP Mazembe do have an opportunity to overtake Les Aigles when they clash with Don Bosco on Friday in Lubumbashi. Earlier on Friday, last place Celeste FC will clash FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo in Kinshasa where a victory is essential for both teams.
