The injury is a big blow for Lord Amoah who was to be considered as one of the home based players to join Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, USA and Mexico.
“The club’s medical staff, on duty based on their experience, arranged for the right back to be taken to Kumasi before full time.
“Subsequent IMR scans revealed that Lord had sustained an anterior cruciate and medial meniscus ligament tear, an injury that could sideline him for an extended period.” Part of the announcement on the club’s website read.
Lord, 22, who has made 19 appearances with one goal to his credit for the record Ghana Premier League holders, is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.
In his absence, Asante Kotoko were held to a goalless draw by ten-man Vision FC in week 24 at the Baba Yara Stadium, a result that left them in 5th on the league table with 39 points, seven points behind leaders Medeama after 24 matches.
