Marshall Munetsi linked with shock Premier League reunion

Zimbabwean midfielder Marshall Munetsi could soon be on his way back to the Premier League—if reports are anything to go by.

Sidelined Zimbabwe national team midfielder Marshall Munetsi has been linked with a shock reunion with his former manager at Nottingham Forest FC.

The 29-year-old is on loan at Paris FC for the rest of the season after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers due to limited game-time then under coach Vitor Pereira.

Munetsi and reunion with Vitor Pereira?

The Warriors player featured 15 times for Wolves this Premier League season before he left for France in the January transfer window.

Now, United Kingdom’s Molineux news website report that the Zimbabwean could reunite with Nottingham Forest FC new manager Pereira. The Portuguese coach was ironically in charge of Wolves when the African star left for the French Ligue 1.

The website quoted French journalist Santi Aouna tweeting that the former Orlando Pirates star could sign for Nottingham Forest this summer.

“Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton are close to a principal agreement for Marshall Munetsi,” Aouna tweeted.

“However, the player’s priority remains Paris FC, where he wishes to continue the adventure. But… no discussions have been held with the capital club at this time.”

The midfielder initially joined Wolves 12 months ago from Ligue 1 side Reims last season, having stepped out almost 150 times and scored 21 goals in the French top- flight.

Impressive debut for Munetsi at Wolves

In his first season in the Premier League, Munetsi scored twice in 16 outings and provided a spark to help Wolves remain in the Premier League for an eighth successive year.

The midfielder made a name in the PSL while on the books of the Soweto giants between 2016 and 2018. He left Pirates to sign for French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims FC in 2019 then Wolves in 2024.

The fortunes for the former Zimbabwe captain changed late last year when he suffered a calf injury which left him on the sidelines for six weeks.

The injury led to his exclusion from the Zimbabwe squad that competed at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.

Munetsi has since rediscovered his form at Paris FC and indicated that he wanted to sign a permanent contract.
