A massive departure has rocked Ghana FA Cup winners, Asante Kotoko, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Porcupine Warriors have parted ways with a number of players after their successful FA Cup campaign, where they defeated Division One club Golden Kicks 2-1 in the final to clinch their tenth title.

Notable names offloaded by the record Ghana Premier League champions include Nigerian import Fernando Wisdom Bassey, former Tamale City striker Sampson Eduku and former Nania FC defender, Daniel Adjetey.

The two-time African champions have also released former WAFA midfielder, Michael Kyei Dwamena, following the expiration of his contract.

Another key figure to exit Asante Kotoko is former Accra Lions goalkeeper Frederic Asare, who leaves the club when his contract ends.

The sweeping departures are part of the club’s plan to reinforce the squad for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign and domestic competitions. Kotoko finished third in the league last season with 58 points, level with rivals Hearts of Oak.

Their FA Cup glory ensured they qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup, a competition they are yet to win.
