Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane has promised the club's fans they will do whatever it takes to beat Mamelodi Sundowns and qualify for the final of the Nedbank Cup.
Amakhosi will face the Brazilians in a highly anticipated semi-final clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday. This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season with the Tshwane side having dominated their previous encounters, winning all three matches.
The stakes are high for Amakhosi, who are two games away from breaking their decade-long trophy drought, and have their sights firmly set on ending this barren spell. The fixture will also be the second cup fixture between the two clubs in the current domestic campaign following their encounter in the Carling Knock-out Cup last November.
“We're feeling positive about our chances," said Zwane as quoted by Kaizer Chiefs website. “We know it's not going to be easy, but we're confident that we can make it happen. It's crucial that we end the season with a strong performance. We'll give it everything and make the supporters proud.”
On his part, Tebogo Potsane said: “We're inspired by the nature of the competition. We know that reaching the final would be a significant step towards achieving our goals, and we're focused on giving it our all. We also want to be remembered as a generation that contributed to the trophy cabinet.”
This season's fourth meeting between Chiefs and Sundowns promises to be an intense affair, with the Brazilians holding an edge in their previous three encounters.
