AmaZulu have advantage over Orlando Pirates – Jacobs

Orlando Pirates FC’s coaching panel member Rayaan Jacobs says Saturday’s opponents, AmaZulu FC, have an advantage going into their Betway Premiership match.

Ahead of the game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, the head performance analyst told Buccaneers media that his team had limited time to train due to a tight schedule.

“The games are coming thick and fast. We know that we are on our final away match of the season. There’s not much time to prepare and train, I think we have done most of the work during the season,” Jacobs said.

He then acknowledged the threat Usuthu, as AmaZulu are called, could pose to the second-placed side from Johannesburg, citing their experience and freshness.

“We are coming up against experienced opponents, who have had enough rest. Their last game was on May 2, so they should be fresh. They should be raring to go, but what is important for us is to give our fans in Durban something to cheer for at 3 pm,” Jacobs added.

Pirates have cemented second position on the league table, 14 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. However, Mandla Ncikazi’s side has two games in hand, including at home against Magesi FC on May 28, 2025.
