Former Chelsea and Nigeria international John Obi Mikel has urged the Premier League club to sign striker Victor Osimhen in the current transfer window.
According to Obi Mikel, the 26-year-old Osimhen, who has enjoyed a great season with Turkish Süper Lig side Galatasaray, deserves to play for the Blues, and it would be a disastrous mistake if the club doesn’t go in for him.
“The thought of Victor (Osimhen) wearing another shirt would be absolutely devastating. Considering the ties we have built between myself, the club and Victor, it would be a disastrous mistake to let him go,” said Obi Mikel, as quoted by Fanatik.
“Look at the way he plays, that hunger, that fire... He plays every week with goals and assists. That's exactly what we need right now!”
Mikel continued: "Osimhen is not just a transfer target. Victor grew up supporting our team. Didier Drogba was his idol. I've said it before, this boy has blue in his blood. His heart is at Stamford Bridge.”
Obi Mikel further urged Chelsea to contact him if they wanted Osimhen’s services: “To be honest, it can be done very quickly. Just a phone call and a few days of paperwork. Everything is done on my side, now it's their turn.”
This season, Osimhen has helped Galatasaray to win the double of the Turkish Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup. He featured 29 times in the league, scoring 25 goals and providing five assists.
