Mohamed Salah made it two goals in his last two Premier League matches on Sunday after a first half strike during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over rivals Everton in the Merseyside Derby.
Moments after Senegalese attacker Iliman Ndiaye had a goal disallowed by VAR, the Egyptian superstar was on hand to finish from a splendid pass by Cody Gakpo in the 29th minute. After enduring a difficult couple of months that ended with Salah announcing his departure at the end of the season, the Anfield legend is looking more relaxed on the pitch.
Everton did not go away easily despite their halftime deficit. In form striker Beto provided a response before the hour mark when the Guinea-Bissau international met Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross with a sliding finish. He now has a remarkable four goals in his last three matches along with an assist.

But the red side of Liverpool would have the last laugh. Virgil van Dijk towered over all markers to head in Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner kick in the tenth minute of stoppage time for a late winner.
Liverpool remain in good position to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, and are only three points back of both Manchester United and Aston Villa as they attempt to move back into the top-3. On the other hand, Everton’s hopes of continental football remain strong. They are back in 10th position but only one point back of Chelsea in 6th place.
Salah now has 7 goals and 6 assists in 24 league matches while Beto continues a strong campaign with 8 goals from 33 league fixtures.
