Pyramids crowned Egypt Cup champions again after defeating ZED to keep domestic double dream alive

Pyramids FC secured the Egypt Cup title for the 2025-26 season after defeating ZED FC 2-1 in the final.

Pyramids took the lead just before halftime when Karim Hafez converted from the penalty spot in the 45th minute.

The advantage was doubled in the 57th minute through Fiston Mayele, who redirected a cross into the net with a clinical finish.

Despite being reduced to ten men after Mostafa Ziko’s red card in the 82nd minute, Pyramids won the game, although ZED managed to pull one back deep into stoppage time through Raafat Khalil in the 92nd minute.

The victory marks Pyramids’ second domestic title in club history and their second Egypt Cup triumph, having previously won the competition in the 2023-24 season — also against ZED.

Pyramids have now reached the Egypt Cup final for three consecutive seasons, further establishing themselves as one of Egypt’s top football powers. Last season, they narrowly lost the final to Zamalek SC on penalties.

For ZED, the defeat means they miss out on qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Meanwhile, Ceramica Cleopatra FC officially secure their place in next season’s Confederation Cup after achieving fourth place in the Nile Egyptian League standings this season.

Pyramids still remain in contention for a historic domestic double this season. Sitting second in the Nile Egyptian League with 51 points, just two behind league leaders Zamalek with one round remaining, the Sky Blues must defeat Smouha in their final league match while hoping Zamalek lose to Ceramica Cleopatra to capture the league crown.
