After establishing themselves as a team to fear in Belgium's Jupiler Pro League, Royal Union Saint-Gilloise are on the verge of clinching the first-ever top division league title in their history.

22-year-old Ghanaian striker Mohammed Fuseini had gone scoreless in his last eight appearances for RUSG but he made head coach Sébastien Pocognoli look like a genius. The coach gave Fuseini his first start since mid-February and the acquisition from Sturm Graz calmly finished in the 27th minute after receiving a pass from Franjo Ivanović.

A graduate of Ghana's famous Right to Dream Academy, Fuseini showed promise with the reserve team of Sturm Graz but it was last season's loan at Danish Superliga club Randers FC where he took a big step forward. Nine goals in sixteen appearances for Rangers in the second half of the 2023-24 season earned Fuseini a €2 million transfer to Union where he has 9 goals and 4 assists in 42 appearances this season.

Union are on an eight-match unbeaten run in the Championship group of the Jupiler Pro League with seven victories during this stretch. They have a four-point lead over Club Brugge, who have a game in hand, with only two matches remaining. Brugge pipped Union by one point last season for the title but now the fast risers of Belgian football want their moment in the spotlight.
