RS Berkane captain Issoufou Dayo said winning the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup will bring joy to the city and the nation. The center-back was a key figure in the Moroccan club's continental success this season.
Dayo told Moroccan sports television channel Arryadia that Berkane represented Morocco and that the success should be a recognition of the North African nation. “First of all, we want to thank all the Moroccan people who supported us. And today, we weren’t playing for Berkane alone; we were playing for an entire nation, to honor Moroccan football.”
Dayo has now won the title for the third time. The Burkina Faso international has been playing for the club since 2016, after joining them from DR Congo side AS Vita Club. “This is our third CAF Confederation Cup title. I want to say bravo to all my teammates, the staff, everyone — we are so proud. And now, we pray to God for a safe journey and to reunite with the wonderful Moroccan people who are waiting for us with so much pride and joy.”
It has been a successful season for the 33-year-old defender, who also secured the Moroccan Botola league title with Berkane. Berkane beat Tanzanian side Simba 3-1 on aggregate to lift the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup title.
