Was it Salah’s final game for Liverpool? Arne Slot answers

Liverpool may be approaching the end of an era after Arne Slot hinted that Mohamed Salah could have already played his final match for the club following an injury against Crystal Palace.

The Egyptian star was forced off in the 59th minute during Liverpool’s 3-1 victory at Anfield, after sustaining a muscle injury. Salah waved to supporters before heading straight down the tunnel, sparking speculation about a premature farewell.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Slot did little to dismiss those concerns. Answering to whether there is a chance this was his last game for Liverpool, he said:

“My honest answer is yes, the way he came off,” the Dutch coach admitted.

“It went through his mind because there are only a few weeks to go, but we are hoping he plays for us again.

“You have tests to do and then we have to wait for the prognosis,” he added.

The Reds secured all three points against Crystal Palace, but the result was overshadowed by uncertainty surrounding Salah’s condition and future.

Salah is leaving Liverpool

The 32-year-old had already confirmed in March that he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current campaign, bringing an extraordinary nine-year spell to a close. Since arriving in 2017, Salah has become one of the club’s greatest-ever players, playing a pivotal role in winning the Premier League (twice), three League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, and the Community Shield.
