Sarr shortlisted for Crystal Palace’s Goal of the month

Senegal forward Ismaïla Sarr has been nominated for Crystal Palace’s Goal of the month award for April.

Sarr’s goals in both UEFA Conference League legs against Fiorentina – at home a bullet header, away a superb counter-attack – has made the cut, while Kirsty Howat’s WSL2 Goal of the Month-nominated strike against Ipswich Town Women was the first to make the shortlist.

Sarr is set to compete alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta’s excellent team move to equalise against Newcastle which is also in contention, whilst there are a pair of fine finishes from our U-21s – Rio Cardines’ free-kick and Zach Marsh’s clever flick – in their play-off win over Liverpool.

Sarr has been instrumental for Palace

Ashleigh Weerden’s sliding finish against Sunderland; Raihaan Anderson’s stunner for our U-18s against Arsenal; and Jørgen Strand Larsen’s wonderful skill and clever finish against Shakhtar Donetsk are all among the contenders.

Sarr has been in sensational form for Palace, becoming a key player with over 28 goal contributions since joining in August 2024.

He has been instrumental in Palace’s success, scoring in the FA Cup semifinal, winning the Community Shield, and starring in their European campaign with BBC highlighting his “flying” form.

Sarr scored the fastest goal in UEFA Conference League history (21 seconds) during a semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk.

His performances have been critical in helping Palace secure trophies, including the FA Cup and the Community Shield, during the 2024-25 season.
