The relegation fight has become the main focus in the Saudi Pro League after Al-Ittihad confirmed their status as league champions and it was Saviour Godwin and Mourad Batna who were the heroes for their clubs on Thursday.
With defeat dooming them to the second tier, Al Okhdoud responded to snap a three-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over relegated Al Raed. One of the league's worst attacks struggled to create much but a moment of quality ended with Zimbabwean winger Knowledge Musona setting up Saviour for a low finish into the corner.
It was Saviour's 7th goal of the season which arrived at a crucial moment. Musona's second assist of the campaign keeps Okhdoud's slim hopes alive. They will need to win at Al Khaleej in their final match on Monday and hope that Al Wehda fail to win at Al Ettifaq.
But for Al Fateh, they are all clear for top flight football next season. Moroccan forward Mourad Batna's second half strike was enough in a 1-0 victory at Damac for Fateh to escape any relegation doubts. French-Moroccan attacker Amine Sbai skillfully took down a long ball before crossing to Batna for his 12th goal of the campaign.
Batna and Algerian teammate Sofiane Bendebka were the key figures for Al Fateh who will complete a remarkable second half of the season when they conclude their campaign on Monday. Batna and Bendebka each scored twelve goals this season, over half of Fateh's league total.
