Tanzania’s U-17 national team, the Serengeti Boys, will step up their preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations with an international friendly against Cameroon today in Casablanca.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 EAT at the Laarbi Zaouli Stadium, offering head coach Elieneza Nsanganzelu a valuable opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Serengeti Boys arrived safely in Morocco on Monday, marking their readiness for a fourth appearance at the U-17 AFCON tournament, which officially kicks off on May 13 with hosts Morocco taking on Tunisia in the opening match.
Tanzania will begin their Group C campaign on May 14 against Mozambique, before facing Angola on May 17. They will wrap up their group stage fixtures with a challenging clash against Mali on May 20.
The East African side will be looking to improve on their previous performances in the competition, having exited at the group stage in their past appearances in 2017, 2019, and 2025.
Most of the tournament matches will be held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Morocco, with only the opening match, semi-finals, and final scheduled at different venues.
The 2026 edition of the U-17 AFCON features 16 teams divided into four groups. Group A includes Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Ethiopia, while Group B consists of Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Uganda, and DR Congo. Tanzania are placed in Group C alongside Mali, Angola, and Mozambique, while Group D features defending champions Senegal, South Africa, Algeria, and Ghana.
With the countdown to kickoff underway, today’s friendly presents the Serengeti Boys with a timely opportunity to sharpen their edge before the real battle begins.
