Clatous Chama opened the scoring just before halftime and Senegalese winger Libasse Gueye put the visitors beyond reach with a spectacular strike early in the second half.
An own goal in the 71st minute confirmed victory for the Reds, who built upon a 3-1 victory over Dodoma Jiji in the CRDB Bank Federation Cup over the weekend.
Deep into first half stoppage time, Zambian international Chama delivered a devastating blow to the hosts at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium. After Gueye’s attempt at a cross was repelled towards the edge of the penalty area, Chama collected the ball and fired a left-footed effort past goalkeeper Machupa Kilusomo.

Gueye then weaved around multiple defenders in the 53rd minute before beating Machupa to make it 2-0 in favor of the visitors. Eighteen minutes later, Fountain Gate defender Shaban Mgunda’s attempt to clear an Elie Mpanzu cross went horribly wrong and his header ricocheted past a helpless Machupa.
Simba move to within five points of rivals and league leaders Young Africans. Azam FC are the only other remote title contenders, sitting ten points back of the leaders.
Next up for the Reds is another test away from home at Namungo FC.
