Africans Abroad: Sinayoko scores but Auxerre lets win slip away

Mali international Lassine Sinayoko scored his eighth French Ligue 1 goal of the season during Auxerre’s 2-2 away draw against Monaco in week 30 fixture on Sunday.

The 26-year-old doubled Auxerre’s lead in the 33rd minute after Kevin Danois’ 11th minute opener at the Stade Louis II.

Monaco however brought smiles back onto the faces of the home fans with Ansu Fati pulling a goal back in the 56th minute before Folarin Balogun leveled from the spot three minutes later.

Sinayoko has now scored eight goals

Sinayoko has now increased his season’s tally to eight goals from 28 games and three assists as Auxerre sit in the relegation playoff zone on 16th with 25 points.

Egypt striker Mostafa Mohamed helped ten-man Nantes secure a 1-1 home draw against Brest on Sunday.

The 28-year-old fired Nantes ahead with just nine minutes played before Brest equalized in added time through the effort of experienced France defender, Brendan Chardonnet.

Mohamed has made 21 appearances with four goals for Nantes this season who occupy 17th on the log with 20 points from 29 games.

In the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Guinea youngster Makaya Ibrahima Diaby found the back of the net for Cercle Brugge during their 4-1 win at FCV Dender EH.

The 19-year-old prodigy, scored his debut goal in 23 matches as Cercle Brugge stayed in the relegation battle of 14th from 30 matches.

In the Danish SuperLiga, 18-year-old Cameroonian centre-forward, Geovanni Vianney Aboh Ndjee pulled a late during FC Copenhagen’s 4-1 away win against ten-man Vejle Boldklub on Sunday.

Geovanni Ndjee joined F.C. Copenhagen from Kadji Sport Academy in Cameroon as part of FCK’s Talent hunt from January 2026.
