Stanley Nwabali emerges as transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly renewed their interest in goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following an appendectomy performed on first-choice keeper Brandon Petersen.

According to multiple reports, the club has submitted an offer to sign the Nigeria international, who is currently a free agent, as they seek cover for Petersen.

Petersen underwent the operation on Friday and was expected to be discharged from hospital on Monday; however, his return to action remains unclear, as recovery from such a procedure typically takes between three and six weeks.

Chiefs remain eager to rebuild and challenge once again at the summit of South African football.

Chiefs previous interest on Nwabali

The Soweto-based side previously monitored Nwabali during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The goalkeeper impressed with a string of strong performances for the Super Eagles, helping Nigeria secure a bronze medal finish.

After leaving Chippa United earlier this year, the 29-year-old has remained without a club. This situation could soon change, with reports suggesting Chiefs have now submitted an offer to sign him on a permanent basis.
