TS Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana has analysed the team’s highs and lows in the 2025 Betway Premiership and called for a strong finish to the season.
The Rockets’ skipper made the call ahead of their season’s final match against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Mbunjana said they started the campaign on a low after going without a win in their opening eight games, before turning their performance around to secure a top-eight place in the table.
“The guys showed a strong mentality to come back from that [spell] because if we had stayed there for too long, I don't think we would be in the position we are in. We had to get ourselves out of that,” he told Galaxy’s media.
The midfielder echoed coach Adnan Beganovic's concerns that the team had recently become complacent after reaching their top-eight league target.
“It has been a difficult couple of games. We didn't get the results we wanted, but we will keep the focus until the league is finished. We will keep going, we will keep training, working hard, and doing things that have worked for us,” Mbunjana explained.
“I know the results have not been in our favour, but the only thing we can do to help change the form we are in is keep going, keep believing, and keep working hard. We went 14 games unbeaten, but things started turning against us after that. However, I believe in the squad. I believe in everything that we do. I believe in the tactics of the coach. Mentally, we are trying to stay focused and forget everything that happened.”
The 34-year-old described Pirates as a quality side that would need Galaxy players to apply themselves fully to get a result.
Fifth-placed Galaxy are winless in their last five consecutive league games (D2 L3). Their latest setback was a 1-0 loss to Richards Bay last weekend.
Conversely, Pirates won their last league game, beating Lamontville Golden Arrows 3-0 on Tuesday to remain 12 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
